Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 3rd T20 Preview & Tips
Sri Lanka Women arrive for the third and final T20 against Pakistan looking to secure a clean sweep after storming into a 2-0 lead.
Pakistan Women have been nowhere near good enough across their series against Sri Lanka, with victory in the third and final T20 one that will salvage some pride rather than a series win.
- Sri Lanka Women have won their last four in the T20 format
Head To Head
Sri Lanka have won six of their last 10 T20's against Pakistan, with the latter winning the other four meetings.
Sri Lanka Women Form
While Sri Lanka Women are below the established heavyweights of Australia, England and India in the T20 game, they are doing a brilliant job of proving that they are the best of the rest right now.
Storming into a 2-0 lead over Pakistan is one thing, but boasting 12 wins in their last 14 in the shortest format has seen them account for a number of teams including the West Indies, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Their four-game winning run may be built on beating weaker teams like Ireland, Scotland and Pakistan twice, but Sri Lanka have been showing that being the better side in these matches is not a pressure that weighs heavily on them.
With four consecutive wins over Pakistan across formats heading into this one, I am backing Sri Lanka to cruise to a 3-0 win over Pakistan as the home side underline their place above many of their supposed equals on the pitch.
Pakistan Women Form
Pakistan Women will likely have one eye on the trip home after seeing their win in their opening ODI against Pakistan make way for a pair of 50 over defeats before they slumped 2-0 down in their T20 series.
A woeful run of 10 defeats in 11 T20's shows Pakistan's struggles in the shortest format are not entirely new. Their awful run at the World Cup was not just confined to the biggest tournament in the game, with a 37-run win over the Netherlands in their final appearance at the tournament a short-lived high with two T20 defeats to Sri Lanka following.
Slow batting in the middle-overs has continually cost Pakistan, while their bowlers have only taken eight of the 20 wickets on offer across their opening two matches. With their woes in the shortest format in mind, I am backing Pakistan to lose once again.
Verdict
I am backing Sri Lanka to storm to a 3-0 T20 series win over Pakistan as the former extend their brilliant run in the shortest format.
