Peshawar Zalmi vs Multan Sultans Preview & Tips - Sultans to fail to hand Zalmi a first 2026 PSL defeat

Multan Sultans can move to the summit of the PSL if they are able to impart Zalmi's first defeat of the new campaign. 

In their last 10 meetings, Zalmi have secured four wins, with Sultans winning the other six games. 

Peshawar Zalmi are aiming for another statement win in the 2026 PSL after romping to four wins in four completed matches, with the other outing ending in a no result against Islamabad United on March 31.

Their last game ended in a stunning 76-run win over Lahore Qalandars, with Zalmi impressing with bat and ball. After posting a competitive 173/7 in their 20 overs, Zalmi skittled Qalandars for just 97 as they ripped through the batting unit of their opponents. 

Ultimately, the difference between the pair across the park was massive, and this was shown in the eventual winning margin. This followed on from an incredible 159-run win over Karachi Kings, with Zalmi sitting at the top of the standings with nine points and a net run rate of +3.103. While Zalmi have not been perfect against their opponents across their last 10, I predict that they will go some way to improving their head to head with a win in this one. 

Multan Sultans have been excellent this season, with the side currently eyeing up an unlikely place at the top of the PSL after six matches. 

It seems like no time at all since MS finished at the foot of the standings in 2025, with the outfit winning just one of their 10 games. Since then, Sultans have won four of their five matches in 2026, with a single defeat coming against Lahore Qalandars on April 3 in a match reduced to 13 overs a side. 

While MS will more than likely give Zalmi a real test of their table-topping credentials, I am backing against them in this one. Six wins across their last 10 meetings is an impressive record, but they have lost four of their last five against their opponents, and I predict a fifth defeat in six for Sultans in this fixture.
