Pakistan vs Zimbabwe Women 3rd T20 Preview & Tips
The third and final T20 between Pakistan Women and Zimbabwe Women takes place in Karachi on May 15 with Pakistan firmly in control after surging into a 2-0 series lead.
Zimbabwe have lost all five of their matches across their tour of Pakistan, with one final chance to win presenting itself in their third T20 on Friday.
Head To Head
The pair have only met twice in the T20 game, with Pakistan winning by 153 runs and 67 runs in the first two matches of this series.
Pakistan Women Form
Pakistan Women enter the third and final T20 in excellent form and full of confidence after producing two brilliant performances.
In the first T20, the work load was shared equally as their batting unit piled on 237 runs before the bowling unit skittled the tourists for just 84. The second T20 saw their batting line-up stutter to 170/4. While they easily beat Zimbabwe as their bowlers restricted their opponents to 103/8, against a better team, they would have likely been in real trouble trying to defend a score well below 200.
While there are things to ponder with the bat for Pakistan, they are the overwhelming favourites to win this series 3-0 and I back them to do just that. Ayesha Zafar was run out for four in the second T20 as she was not given a chance to get going with the bat. Due to this, I predict that she will hit the ground running in the third and final T20 with a big score.
Zimbabwe Women Form
Zimbabwe Women have endured a difficult tour and, at 5-0 down across their ODI and T20 tour of Pakistan, it is clear that taking on higher tier opposition is still too big an ask for this improving side.
Batting remains the biggest issue. Zimbabwe’s top order has repeatedly collapsed under scoreboard pressure, exposing a middle order unable to rotate strike consistently against spin. In the first T20, four of Zimbabwe's top six batters returned single figure scores, with three batters slumping to the same ignominy in the second T20.
Their bowlers did a far better job of containing Pakistan in the second T20, but after taking three wickets with just 46 runs on the board, they allowed Pakistan to rebuild as they lost a single wicket on their way to a total of 170. Finding that killer delivery is still something that is evading Zimbabwe, and this will more than likely come back to haunt them in the third and final T20.
Verdict
I am backing Ayesha Zafar to lead her side to a big win as Pakistan wrap up the T20 series with another triumph.
