Pakistan vs Zimbabwe Women 2nd T20 Preview & Tips
The second T20 between Pakistan Women and Zimbabwe Women takes place in Karachi on May 14 with Pakistan boasting a 1-0 series lead.
Pakistan won the opening T20 by 153 runs after hammering their way to 237-5, with Zimbabwe getting nowhere near to their target.
- Pakistan have won their last five in all formats
- Pakistan's Ayesha Zafar top scored with 102 not out in the first T20
Head To Head
The pair have only met in the Twenty20 format once, with Pakistan storming to a 153-run win in the first T20.
Pakistan Women Form
Pakistan Women arrive in excellent form and have now won all four completed matches on this tour convincingly. Their batting has been particularly strong, with Zimbabwe's bowlers unable to get close to dismissing the home side cheaply.
Ayesha Zafar produced a match-winning 102 not out in the opening T20. While there were a number of single-digit scores across the seven batters that took up their guard, Zafar's score alone was enough to eclipse the total of Zimbabwe's entire batting unit.
Their bowling attack has been equally dominant. Fatima Sana (3/7), Sadia Iqbal (2/14) and Natalia Pervaiz (2/3) piled the pressure on with miserly spells that resulted in the majority of the wickets. Ultimately, Pakistan were far too good across all facets of the game.
I expect more of the same in the second T20 as Zimbabwe's hopes of securing some form of win take another blow.
Zimbabwe Women Form
Zimbabwe Women have endured a difficult tour and enter the second T20 on the back of four consecutive defeats at the hands of their opponents.
One of their primary concerns is the stability of their batters. Zimbabwe have repeatedly lost wickets at key times, exposing a middle order that has struggled for any kind of consistent runs. Their inability to build partnerships has prevented them from putting Pakistan under any pressure, allowing the home team to set attacking fields that have resulted in wickets falling.
Bowling has also been problematic. Zimbabwe conceded 237 runs despite having the home side on the back-foot at 68/3 after 5.4 overs. With Pakistan only losing two more wickets on their way to a score of 237, Zimbabwe's batters were always going to struggle to get close to their hosts.
With a fifth defeat of the tour looming, I predict another comfortable loss for Zimbabwe in the second T20.
Verdict
I am backing Ayesha Zafar to back up her unbeaten century with another good score as Pakistan go 2-0 up in their T20 series against Zimbabwe.
