Pakistan vs USA T20 World Cup Preview & Tips

Pakistan squeezed to a three-wicket win over the Netherlands in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup as they just about avoided an embarrassing loss.

The USA were beaten by India in their opening game of the tournament as they slipped to a 29-run loss at the hands of the tournament favourites.

The pair have only met once in the T20 game, with the USA winning via a super over back in 2024.

Pakistan needed all of their quality in their clash with the Netherlands as they secured a win by just three-wickets.

Their bowling unit looked in good touch as they bowled their opponents out for 147. However, regular wickets fell as Pakistan tried to chase their target. While they did get across the line, they needed Faheem Ashraf's 29 from 11 to eventually get them over the line.

In their clash with the USA, they have a chance at redemption following their embarrassing loss to their opponents at the 2024 World Cup. Defeat came in pulsating circumstances as they lost in a super over.

In this one, I do not expect Pakistan to slip to a defeat. As they have chosen to boycott their match against India, they simply have to win their other three outings, and I back them to make it two consecutive wins at the competition.

USA Form

The USA did well to restrict India to 161/9 in their opening World Cup match, but their batting unit then stuttered on the big stage as they slipped to a 29-run loss.

Ultimately, the USA were always massively up against it after losing their opening three batters for less than 10 runs combined. After crumbling to 13/3, the USA did battle back to 71/3, but regular wickets tumbled from there as they were beaten comfortably.

I predict that the USA will struggle on the slower, spinning tops they are currently playing on, and I back a tough day at the office for the USA as they slip closer to a group-stage exit.
