Pakistan vs Scotland Women T20 Preview & Tips
Pakistan Women arrive on the back of a heavy nine-wicket loss to Sri Lanka in their last outing as their losing run in the shortest format was extended to three games.
Scotland Women hammered the Netherlands by 58 runs in their last outing as they made it successive wins in the shortest format.
- Pakistan have lost their last three in the T20 game
Head To Head
The pair have met once before, with Scotland beating Pakistan by eight runs back in 2024.
Pakistan Women Form
Pakistan Women are trundling towards the T20 World Cup without a win since they beat Zimbabwe by 133 runs back on May 15. Since then, they have lost to West Indies, Ireland and Sri Lanka, with their defeats getting progressively heavier.
At the World Cup, Pakistan will meet Australia, Bangladesh, India, the Netherlands and South Africa. Each of the three sides they have recently lost to sit in Group 2 of the World Cup, with Pakistan placed in arguably the tougher group. Wins over Bangladesh and the Netherlands are within their remit, but they will not win those games if they continue to stutter with bat and ball.
In their last game against Sri Lanka, Pakistan were restricted to 168/8 in their 20 overs. Their total looked competitive, but their bowlers could only make a single breakthrough as Sri Lanka cruised to 169/1 with nine deliveries to spare. In truth, Pakistan were never close to winning that game.
While the Scottish are not at the same level as most of the sides they will face in their World Cup group, they are still strong. Pakistan's issues with bat and ball will likely be highlighted once again in this one, and I predict they will slump to another loss.
Scotland Women Form
Scotland Women have been building an impressive run heading into the T20 World Cup with five wins coming in their last six T20's.
In their last match, Scotland were able to cruise to a 58-run win over the Netherlands. While their batters failed to really light up the stadium as they fought towards a total of 163/5, their bowlers were excellent. The Netherlands were bowled out for 105 with Gabriella Fontenla's 2/2 catching the eye.
While this match will mean little in the grand scheme of things, Scotland will be keen to build on their momentum heading into the World Cup. While I predict that Scotland will struggle at the World Cup, I do not see them losing to Pakistan in this one.
Verdict
I am backing Scotland to come away with another morale-boosting win as they hand Pakistan a fourth consecutive defeat.
