Pakistan vs Namibia T20 World Cup Preview & Tips
Pakistan were nowhere near good enough in their last World Cup game as they crumbled to a 61-run loss at the hands of arch-rivals India.
Namibia were beaten by the USA in a 31-run loss as they slipped to a third defeat at the tournament.
- Saim Ayub took three wickets for Pakistan in their last match against India
- Pakistan beat Namibia by 45 runs in their only meeting back in 2021
Head To Head
The pair have only met once before, with Pakistan storming to a 45-run win back in 2021.
Pakistan Form
Pakistan went into their meeting with India targeting a statement win, but they were left wondering what might have been as they were skittled for just 114 in their chase of 176 to win.
Losing their top four batters for single-figure scores dealt a hammer-blow to Pakistan's chase, with Usman Khan's defiant 44 from 34 providing their only real score of note. This loss to India was a lesson for Pakistan, who will want to ensure their group stage loss to their arch-rivals is the only time they lose at the tournament this year.
With Namibia to come, I expect a big reaction from Pakistan. Saim Ayub impressed with the ball against India as he took 3/25, going at just 6.25 per over. With many of his teammates taking some real treatment, Ayub was able to provide threat and control.
I back Ayub to take over 1.5 wickets in this one as he helps to get Pakistan back to winning ways in this crucial game.
Namibia Form
Namibia were always up against it in their clash with the USA as they saw their opponents post a score of 199/4.
In reply, Namibia only saw six wickets fall, but they were unable to really build up ahead of steam, with their 20 overs seeing them post a score of 168/6. Ultimately, their batting and bowling units failed in their assignments, with Namibia now eliminated from Super 8 contention.
Having lost to the Netherlands by seven wickets, India by 93 runs and the USA by 31 runs, I predict that Namibia will sink to a fourth consecutive defeat at the World Cup as they head home without a win.
Verdict
I am backing Ayub to continue to take wickets for Pakistan as he helps his side bounce back with a strong performance against Namibia.
