Pakistan vs Australia 2nd ODI Preview & Tips

Pakistan were brilliant in their first ODI against Australia as their bowlers gave the touring side all kinds of issues when batting first.

Australia struggled to make inroads with bat or ball as they succumbed to a frustrating loss in their opening clash against Pakistan.

Pakistan have won five of their last 10 against Australia, with the Aussies winning the other five.

Pakistan’s bowling unit was in fine form in the first ODI as they bundled Australia out for just 200 runs as they utilised the conditions perfectly.

With the ball, Arafat Minhas took the headlines with his stunning spell that returned figures of 5/32. However, it was not just his efforts that won them the game as Pakistan’s bowling line up shone in the first ODI. With no economy rate exceeding 7.00, Pakistan took wickets and dried the runs up in a brilliant display.

Babar Azam then went about starring with the bat as he led his side to victory. His resurgence with the bat has come on the back of a stunning run at the Pakistan Super League in which the runs flowed. In the second ODI, I am backing Babar Azam to continue to score runs for his side as the home team secure the series with a game to play.

Australia Form

Australia will know that they must be far better in the second ODI after they were given a lesson in bowling in their last outing.

Matt Short (55) and Matthew Renshaw (61) were the few bright spots with the bat as the touring side went from 123/4 to 200 all out. With the ball, Australia were always up against it trying to defend 200, and they found it tough to make the necessary inroads to put Pakistan under pressure.

The second ODI constitutes a shot at redemption, but I predict that the Aussies will continue to struggle. They had no answers for Minhas’ spin in the first ODI, and I predict more woes for the travelling outfit in this one.
