Islamabad United vs Peshawar Zalmi Preview & Tips
Islamabad United were undone by their work in the field in their opener against Multan Sultans as they slipped to a disappointing defeat.
Peshawar Zalmi were outstanding in their opening match as they stormed to a five-wicket win over Pindiz as they chased down their target of 215 with relative ease.
- United have lost seven of their last eight completed matches (W1)
- Zalmi have won three of their last five completed T20's
Head To Head
Zalmi have been victorious in five of their last 10 against United, with the latter securing wins in their other five contests.
Islamabad United Form
Islamabad United were unable to hit the ground running in their opening match of the 2026 PSL as they were beaten by five wickets in their clash with Multan Sultans.
In their contest, United battled to what looked like a competitive score of 171/8. However, they saw their total easily chased down, with Multan Sultans securing victory with five wickets and eight deliveries to spare. Perhaps on another day their total might have been one they could defend, but their bowling unit struggled to make inroads.
This defeat was their third consecutive loss in the T20 game, while they have been beaten in seven of their last eight. With United in terrible form at the moment, it is tough to see them bouncing back against a Zalmi side that looked full of confidence in their opener.
Peshawar Zalmi Form
Peshawar Zalmi put in the batting performance of the weekend as they hammered their way to 218/5, with the side potentially on for a total of 235+ if they had been able to play their innings out.
While no one batter smashed a huge score, the majority of their batting unit performed, with only Aaron Hardie of the batters that were dismissed unable to make 30 runs or more. This was a masterclass in each batter getting runs and taking any momentum Pindiz could make with the ball away.
While United will be desperate for a response in this one, I back Zalmi to build on their five-wicket win in their opener with another fine performance.
Verdict
I am backing Zalmi to make it two wins on the spin in the PSL as United slip to another defeat.
