Islamabad United vs Multan Sultans Preview & Tips - United to begin 2026 PSL with a win

Multan Sultans were the worst team in the PSL last season as they managed to secure a single win across their 10 outings. 

United have won five of their last 10 against their opponents, with the Multan Sultans winning the other five. 

Islamabad United went from superb to awful in the space of one match as a run of five consecutive wins in the 2025 PSL quickly made way for a four-game losing run. 

While they did storm to a 79-run win over the Karachi Kings in their final regular season match, they were picked apart by the Quetta Gladiators in the Qualifier. With one final chance in front of them, United stuttered in their clash with Lahore Qalandars as they were hammered by 95 runs in a chastening defeat. Just like that, their season was over on the back of six defeats in seven games. 

This season, the focus has to be on forgetting their woeful run at the latter-end of last year with a win in their opener. If United hit the ground running in this one, then I back them to easily defeat last season's worst team in a morale-boosting win. 

Multan Sultans were woefully bad last season, losing nine of their 10 outings in a run that saw them out of contention for a playoff spot very early on. 

Their struggles with bat and ball means a real re-think is needed this season, but their woes will not likely be solved after a single year. Instead, I predict that they will struggle to get going in their opening match as they fall foul of one of last season's best sides. 

Interestingly, Multan Sultans have won five of their last 10 against their opponents, but they have lost their last four against United. With this in mind, I am backing the Multan Sultans to slip to a defeat in their opener.
