India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Preview & Tips
India were able to ease to a second successive win at the 2026 T20 World Cup as they defeated Namibia in their second outing.
Pakistan easily beat the USA in their last World Cup game as they notched a 32-run win over their opponents.
- Pakistan have lost their last five T20's against India
- Sahibzada Farhan is averaging 60.00 at the 2026 World Cup
Head To Head
India have won eight of their last 10 T20's against Pakistan, with the latter winning just two meetings in this time.
India Form
Despite promising a massive score in their clash with Namibia after storming to 104/1 in seven overs, India trundled to 209/9 in their 20 overs as they ran out of steam late on.
While their bowling united combined to skittle Namibia for just 116, their inability to put their foot down late in the innings was a sight to behold, as they went from 205/4 after 18.1 overs to 209/9 at the end of their innings.
Despite this, India arrive with a brace of wins behind them and they will have ending Pakistan's perfect run in their sights. Five consecutive wins over their opponents in the T20 game heading into this one is an excellent record, while the co-hosts arrive on the back of five successive wins in the shortest format and 10 victories in their last 11.
While I predict a thrilling game played in front of a raucous crowd, I am backing the favourites to come out on top this time.
Pakistan Form
Pakistan come into their third match of the 2026 T20 World Cup on the back of a brace of wins over the Netherlands and the USA.
Pakistan will be pleased with their performances at the competition so far. Their opening match saw them restrict the Netherlands to 147 in 19.5 overs before they battled to a three-wicket win. Against the USA, Pakistan stormed to 190/9 before restricting the USA to 158/8.
While neither side should have been giving Pakistan too many issues, they still constituted excellent workouts ahead of their clash with their bitter rivals.
Against India, Pakistan have struggled. Since their last T20 win over their opponents back in September of 2022, India have won five consecutive matches. While Pakistan arrive for this one on the back of five successive wins, India have won 10 of their last 11 in a stunning run.
I believe this will be an incredibly difficult match for Pakistan. The competition between the two sides is ramped up at a World Cup, and I believe that this will play into the hands of India. Despite this, I predict that Sahibzada Farhan will continue his superb start to the World Cup with another good score.
Farhan has notched 47 and 73 at the competition this year with his aggressive batting helping to set Pakistan up well. A good start against India is crucial, and I back the opener to go well from the off.
Verdict
I am backing India to win this heavyweight clash despite Sahibzada Farhan continuing to plunder runs at the World Cup.
