Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Peshawar Zalmi Preview & Tips
Hyderabad Kingsmen were cast aside by the Multan Sultans in their last match as their six-wicket loss compounded their early-season woes.
Peshawar Zalmi saw their match against Islamabad United on March 31 abandoned, meaning they have not played since March 28.
- The Kingsmen have lost their opening three matches this season
Head To Head
This will be the first time the pair have met in a competitive cricket match.
Hyderabad Kingsmen Form
Hyderabad Kingsmen continue to prop up the PSL standings after losing their opening three matches by large margins.
Despite hammering their way to 225/5 against the Multan Sultans last time out, they saw their opponents come away with the win as Sahibzada Farhan's stunning 106 not out allowed the latter to secure a six-wicket win. This followed on from defeats to the Lahore Qalandars (by 69 runs) and Quetta Gladiators (by 40 runs).
Each of their defeats have come as the Kingsmen have run out of steam as the game wears on with both setting and chasing scores ending in defeats. The PSL is clearly a very tough place to get a win right now, and this is doubly true for a new side. With their issues with bat and ball in mind, I predict the Kingsmen will slip to another defeat.
Peshawar Zalmi Form
Peshawar Zalmi would have been raring to go in their second outing of the season, but they saw their clash with Islamabad United end without a ball being bowled.
While still unbeaten in the league after winning once and seeing the other match cancelled, a failure to play a game since March 28 may yet prove to be an issue. Their starting XI should be well rested, but excessive time in the nets is no replacement for time out in the middle in match conditions.
Despite this, Zalmi are my pick to win this match. They were far too good for Pindiz in their opening game as they stormed to a five-wicket win after posting 218/5 in their chase of 215 to win. If Babar Azam can provide the anchor for Zalmi at the top of the order, then the Kingsmen will really struggle.
Verdict
I am backing Zalmi to make it three without defeat in the PSL as they hand the Kingsmen a fourth successive loss.
